Building the Board

The Cleveland Engineering Society recently elected four new members to our Board of Directors. Ray Beach (Retired NASA Engineer), Kyle Frye (Lincoln Electric), Tom Olding, P.E. (SME), and Nicole Rosario (Marketing on Demand) all joined our board at the close of 2022. CES has been rebuilding many aspects of the organization over the last couple of years and we are thrilled to continue to grow our board to better serve our membership and our community.

Each of these individuals brings their own unique set of assets to CES and their professionalism and passion have exceeded our expectations.  We would like to highlight these notable board additions by sharing their background and aspirations.

Raymond Beach

Retired Engineer | NASA

Ray Beach

Ray Beach was born and raised in the Greater Cleveland area, growing up in Fairview Park. His interest in a space related profession stemmed from his father’s interest in engineering and the excitement of the Apollo lunar missions.  Ray received his bachelor's and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Fenn College of Engineering.  He began his career at the NASA Lewis Research Center in 1976 and remained with NASA for over 44 years.  He is very fond of his time with NASA as it afforded him the opportunity to work on new and innovative technologies and he was awarded a number of patents and NASA achievement medals.  Ray wants to serve on the CES Board so that he can give back to his native area and the engineering community and pass on the knowledge he gained from his lengthy engineering career.

Kyle Frye

Kyle Frye

Environmental, Safety, & Compliance Manager | The Lincoln Electric Company

Kyle received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and his Masters in Business Administration from Cleveland State University. He currently serves as Manager of the Environmental, Safety, and Compliance Team at Lincoln Electric. Previous roles have included Operations Manager, QA Supervisor and Engineering Support. It has always been his objective to ensure that his teams are successful in enacting strategies that will meet Lincoln Electric’s goals.  Kyle wants to help The Cleveland Engineering Society fulfill our mission which is to serve the educational and developmental needs of local organizations, encouraging young people to pursue careers in STEM, and allowing CES to facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices amongst members.

Tom Olding

Tom Olding, P.E.

Project Engineer | SME

Tom is a geotechnical engineer at SME’s Kirtland, OH office location and has been full-time with SME for over 5 years. Prior to that he was a co-op and intern for two construction seasons with SME. Tom recently received his Professional Engineering License in Ohio and prior to that he received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University.  Tom knew from an early age that he wanted to be an engineer and he has always enjoyed the interactions he has had with engineers throughout his academic and professional career.  As an engineer he is always looking to grow and expand his knowledge through a wide range of subjects, and he feels that CES can provide opportunities to local engineers looking for a similar experience.  As a board member he hopes to grow the organization and would like to help us provide new, exciting, and different ways for our members to learn and interact with other engineers.

Nicole Rosario

Nicole Rosario

Like many in the marketing profession, Nicole is no stranger to wearing many hats.
