Join the Cleveland Engineering Society (CES) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) for a joint behind-the-scenes Industry Tour at Thogus and rp+m in Avon Lake, Ohio. This unique event will showcase how modern plastics manufacturing and additive manufacturing technologies are shaping the future of product development and production.
The tour will begin at Thogus, a family-owned manufacturer specializing in custom plastic injection molding and contract manufacturing. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the injection molding process in action, explore advanced molding equipment and automation systems, and learn how engineered thermoplastics are used to create precision components for industries such as automotive, medical, consumer products, and industrial manufacturing. Headquartered in Avon Lake, Ohio, Thogus has 35+ injection molding machines (35 – 750Tons) with robots at every press.
Participants will also visit rp+m (rapid prototype + manufacturing), a leader in additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies. During this portion of the tour, guests will see cutting-edge additive manufacturing systems producing prototype and production parts from polymer and metal materials. The tour will highlight how technologies such as metal laser melting and high-precision polymer printing enable rapid prototyping, complex geometries, and faster product development cycles.
This combined tour offers a rare opportunity to see both traditional high-volume manufacturing and advanced additive manufacturing working together within the same innovation ecosystem.
