The City of Cleveland is currently searching for a Licensed Engineer or Architect to join their Building and Housing department as a Master Plan Examiner.

In this role, you will work on a variety of different projects that affect our City’s most important commercial and residential construction projects. Be “in the know!” Capitalize on your knowledge of Ohio Building Code, Residential Code of Ohio, Cleveland Zoning Code, and the Cleveland Codified Ordinances to review and approve building blueprints and prepare correction letters, adjudication orders, and plan approval letters. Consult with applicants, design professionals, contractors, and developers to ensure that their important projects come to fruition. Your critical expertise will ensure the safety and development of our City, all while having the stability of consistent work with an amazing team of individuals within the City’s Building and Housing department.

Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Design / Water Resources Engineer III or IV to work as an integral part of a growing civil and environmental engineering design team in the Cleveland, Ohio office on projects involving site/civil design, water resources, dams, landfill design, stormwater infrastructure, waste impoundments, environmental etc. for a variety of clients across the United States.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
•Perform as lead engineer in the development and application of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and analyses related to a variety of water resource engineering design projects.
•Mentor junior staff in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
•Perform as lead engineer in site/civil design projects, including developing earthwork grading, drainage, and stormwater management plans.
•Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering evaluation and design tasks.
•Prepare engineering related calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives.
•Develop high-quality technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
•Prepare engineer’s construction cost estimates and evaluate quantities.
•Prepare alternatives analyses and develop solutions for technical problems.
•Serve as a task manager leading technical aspects and design team for an overall project.
•Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
•Oversee/manage subcontractors for project related field work or site inspections.
•Attend client and public meetings.
•Ability to assist with development of project scope, budgeting, and scheduling.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent technical writing skills.
•A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment.

Description

Minimum Requirements
•Bachelors of Science degree from an ABET accredited college or university
•III-5 years' civil design experience in water resource analysis & Hydraulic/hydrologic modeling
•IV-10 years' civil design experience in water resource analysis & Hydraulic/hydrologic modeling
•Demonstrate experience in developing full engineering design drawing sets for site/civil grading projects and/or other piping or water conveyance projects.
•Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D including developing surfaces for volume comparisons
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.


Preferred Qualifications
•Professional Engineer license
•EIT with the ability to obtain a PE within 6 months of hire.
•Experience with 2D and unsteady-state modeling in HEC-RAS.
•Experience in overseeing and coordinating subcontractors for project related field efforts.
•Knowledge of construction cost estimating.
•Experience with construction procedures, means and methods, and communicating with construction contractors.

•Ability to travel 10% for project oversight (short term).
